A kid comes home from school after his mom has gonen to Egypt for an archaeological dig to find his dad has traded in his mom's beloved compact car for a muscular, red off road jeep. Dad has had a secret: he's a squatcher, who's going to go on an expedition to find Bigfoot with a famous professor and his team. Years ago, dad was saved by an unknown but smelly forest friend who built a warm nest for him and then left him, which the boy's dad never forgot. Eventually he put nest and tree breaks together and came up with Bigfoot. Dad has another secret, too, but he does not know it. He's a landlord and one of his tenants is a famous Northwest thief on the run, whose daring criminal exploits shocked and tantalized the press when he jumped out of an airplane with his loot. Dad goes on the expedition but he has set up a secret system to communicate with his mysterious tenant, who is being watched by a retired FBI agent, who figured out who he was but couldn't bust him. The characterizations are rich, colorful and realistic. The action is reasonable, the squatch turns out to be a gentle giant, and the boy saves the day and helps the celebrity thief turn himself in to the authorities. Sasquatch was a good read. It was published and printed by Hyperion, a bonadife publisthing house unlike many of the recent Bigtoot/Sasquatch books which seem to be published by Indie publishers today. In addition, Sasquatch was very well written--professionally so--which added to my enjoyment. The characters, story line, action and premises in Sasquatch are good and add up. I recommend it to anyone who l ikes outdoors adventures written at a teenage level. .
