I feel in love with this author's skill when I read "The War that Saved My Life". She continues to impress me and endear her characters deeper into my creative consciousness. Kimberly Brubaker Bradley is a master of tapping into the honest voice of Ada. She tells her story so well everything feels seamlessly genuine. I devoured this book in two days and enjoyed every moment I had with Ada on her journey. Brilliant.

The War I Finally Won Kimberly Brubaker Bradley 9780525429203 Books Reviews

An excellent sequel to an outstanding novel. World War II historical fiction for middle grades written from the child's viewpoint usually involves prison camp narrative or improbable spy plots. This continues a genuine experience lived by many British children during the war.....and mentions the Holocaust, the Enigma, and the Home Guard in ways that will interest students into further reading. Well done Bradley!
I loved it! I have been waiting for this to come out ever since I read it's sequal, "The War That Saved My Life." In both, you can relate to characters, and feel emotionally attached. It was a quick and easy read for me, (I have 9th grade reading level) most likely recommended for the ages 9-13, 14ish. I loved the ending and wish there were more!
This carefully documented, many layered, inspiring story of a young, heroic, British girl during World War II continues the story from the book “ The war that saved my life”. It is told with delicacy, love, humor, and honesty from the perspective of a child whose spirit is not crushed despite horrific experiences. It intertwines history, humanity, humor, and heroism. I strongly recommend this book to people of all ages.
A worthy successor to "The War that Saved My Life." The story of a young girl coming of age and resolving her issues with her upbringing during war-time England. Bradley paints a vivid picture of the trials and hardships of living during World War II and the importance of family in troubled times. The two books must be read together in order to get the full impact of what the English went through in those troubled times.
An excellent sequel. The characters feel like real people experiencing all the trials and tribulations attached to war. Ada continues to be an interesting narrator and her growth over the course of the novel is handled well. I also really appreciated the historical details. They added another excellent dimension, especially when considering that the only details we get are the ones shared with Ada. Overall a great story. Will be recommending.
This is a great book, even better than the first one. I love its message of perseverance, grit, and forgiving oneself and others. Also as was the case for "The War that Saved my Live" , it is a book one can read many, many times with pleasure.!
This is a worthy sequel to "The War that Saved My Life," which was my favorite book last year. Ada is now free to live a normal life, but her past continues to haunt her and she can't let go of her emotional wounds. Then World War II forces her to associate with people she either doesn't like (her best friend's mother) or doesn't understand (a Jewish girl), and she discovers that people, and life, aren't always what they appear to be. So when her guardian becomes ill, Ada can finally learn to love others--and herself. This is a book that wrenched my heart, but I couldn't put it down.
I feel in love with this author's skill when I read "The War that Saved My Life". She continues to impress me and endear her characters deeper into my creative consciousness.
