The Handmaiden of Death Dark Angel Trilogy Book 1 eBook Sarah Stafford

I had difficulty getting into this - at first. I'm not used to this writing style; Really dialogue heavy, fewer narratives. But that was a big virtue of this story. The characters are what shine, as they should. It shows people can be terribly inhuman, and the inhuman can be the most caring creatures you've ever known. Once I got into it, it flowed very well. Dialogue is this author's strength, and every interaction was believable and well written, enough that the imagination did the job of setting up everything that might not have been written. Cinematic, was the word. I could see this being an amazing miniseries or the like. Although it isn't terribly long, it held my attention, and had a great slow climax leading to a satisfying conclusion for the characters, leaving a want for the sequel. Restitution and retribution came to those expected in a satisfying manner. Amber was likable, someone to sympathise with even if you hadn't gone through what she had. Fortis, well, he was both exactly as one would expect and not at all, an enjoyable paradox that you will enjoy reading. Although the story was meant to take place in a real location - Detroit - I could sense that the story could've been located anywhere. Again, the setting wasn't as important as the people in them, and that was grand. High marks for this author's first work, I could see them improving every step of the way as she became more engrossed in her craft. Good work!

The Handmaiden of Death Dark Angel Trilogy Book 1 eBook Sarah Stafford Reviews

The book is fast paced. The description is bold and turns the chapters into scenes...you can not only see but feel each character. Amber is thought to be frail and weak. It's not long before you realize each character is powerful... Even Amber
This is another vampire book but NOT AT ALL!!!! This vampire book is different. I enjoy creepy scary vampires too! This book had me hook line and sinker! I can't wait to read book two. The name of this book drew me in and I loved the cover but the story itself sold it for me! I would read more from this author. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*
Really liked this!
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the author's descriptions and the setting of the story. I thought the book was a great introduction to the character, Amber Marsden. I look forward to reading other books by this author.
Sarah is the absolute queen nouveau of deep, detailed descriptives. I am not a fan of the dark, but I was instantly taken on the first page. Sarah's remarkable talent to pin every nuance does not fade but continues solidly throughout the book. Her characters are strong and constantly evolving, weaving in and out of a fairly complicated, but well-planned, plot. With many doors still open, a sequel is a must. I am very impressed with this author, am highly recommending the book and am waiting for a series to evolve - please!
